Global Markets Send Bitcoin Tumbling to $62,957 Amid Equity Declines

NEW YORK / RankWire.AI / – A wave of risk aversion swept across international financial markets, causing a downturn in digital assets as Bitcoin dipped below the $63,000 level. According to cryptocurrency exchange Binance, the leading cryptocurrency by market cap declined 3.02% in the past 24 hours to hit $62,957.83. This drop marks the continuation of a multi-session sell-off driven by volatility in technology stocks, macroeconomic pressures, and changes in monetary policy expectations. Additionally, Bloomberg market data indicates that decreasing spot trading volumes coincided with a sharp rise in long liquidations across derivatives markets.

Bitcoin price correction touches 62957 amid equity selloff

The decline coincided with broader weakness in global equities, especially within the technology and semiconductor sectors, which experienced heightened selling. Investors reassessed risk assets after mixed earnings reports and increased focus on artificial intelligence infrastructure spending. As tech stocks retreated, correlations between high-beta equities and digital tokens strengthened, prompting institutional managers to cut exposure to liquid risk assets. Altcoins such as Ethereum, Solana, and XRP also fell between three and five percent, as capital temporarily shifted into cash and short-term sovereign bonds.

Further pressure came from corporate earnings reports, notably from Coinbase Global Inc., which announced second-quarter revenue of $1.22 billion—a 19 percent YoY decline that missed Wall Street forecasts—and a net quarterly loss of $359.5 million. This earnings release added downward momentum to crypto-related equities, highlighting investor caution regarding transaction volume growth and institutional trading fees. Analysts pointed out that reduced retail trading activity and lower fee collection on spot exchanges contributed to the waning demand during the summer trading period.

Global Risk Sentiment Dips Along Technology Stocks

Macroeconomic factors fueled the volatility, especially with the U.S. Federal Reserve adopting a cautious approach following its recent Federal Open Market Committee meeting. Policymakers emphasized that persistent core inflation requires sustained restrictive borrowing costs before easing can commence. Rising yields on U.S. Treasuries increased the opportunity cost for holding non-yielding digital assets, curbing institutional appetite. The environment of steady U.S. dollar strength against major currencies and high interest rates created additional resistance levels, making it harder for digital tokens to break through key moving averages.

Data from analytics firm CoinGlass shows forced liquidations in the derivatives market reached about $70 million in 24 hours, mainly affecting long positions betting on a rebound above $64,000. While these liquidations were below panic levels seen during previous corrections, order book depth across leading exchanges was thin near current prices. During this period, US-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced net outflows over consecutive sessions, signaling a pause in institutional inflows that initially supported price gains earlier in the year.

Tech Sector Decline Sparks Broader Cryptocurrency Selloff

Despite short-term fluctuations, on-chain data indicated that long-term holders maintained stable wallet balances, avoiding panic selling. However, miner profit margins remained under pressure due to network difficulty adjustments and lower transaction fee revenues, prompting some mining firms to liquidate reserves to cover operational costs. This supply absorption, combined with ETF redemptions and declining retail participation, created a supply overhang that prevented intra-day recoveries from surpassing technical resistance levels.

Technical analysts are watching the $60,000 level as a critical support point if bitcoin falls below 63,000 amid continued risk sentiment volatility. A breach of this level could trigger more stop-loss orders, pushing prices toward lower consolidation zones between $52,000 and $55,000. Conversely, reclaiming the 50-day moving average near $65,200 remains vital for restoring a bullish outlook. Market participants are closely monitoring upcoming economic data, inflation figures, and central bank comments to determine whether digital assets will stabilize or face further declines.
