SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA / RankWire.AI / – During its Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London, Samsung Electronics revealed its eighth-generation foldable smartphone lineup, introducing the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The South Korean technology giant updated physical designs, enhanced camera systems, and incorporated artificial intelligence features across all three models. Notably, the launch marks the debut of an Ultra tier within Samsung’s folding device range—offering enterprise users an ultra-slim form factor that measures 4.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighs 215 grams.

The standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 features a new form factor weighing 201 grams, making it the lightest book-style foldable smartphone from the manufacturer so far. It sports a 10:16 aspect ratio on the cover screen and a 4:3 ratio on the main display, catering to different content types such as browsing, reading, or video consumption. Both screens utilize Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and can reach up to 3,000 nits peak brightness under Vision Booster mode. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy and equipped with a 4,800 mAh battery.

To improve durability while keeping the device slim, Samsung developed its proprietary Flex Titanium display structure for premium foldables. This architecture combines a titanium-alloy film with an underlying support plate to absorb impacts, evenly distribute mechanical tension, and minimize visible creases over many folding cycles. Adjustments to hinge balance, magnetic force, and display tension ensure smoother opening actions. An anti-reflective finish enhances outdoor visibility without sacrificing color vibrancy even under bright ambient light.

    Enhanced Hardware Features for Productivity

The high-end Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra expands its display options with an 8.0-inch QXGA+ main screen plus a 6.5-inch cover display. Designed for multitasking and media creation at scale, it includes a 200-megapixel primary sensor with High Dynamic Range support, alongside a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera module. For professional mobile videography, it supports recording in 8K using the APV video codec and features Cine LUT color management tools suitable for advanced editing workflows.

Internal hardware of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra incorporates an expanded graphite cooling system aimed at better heat dissipation during demanding tasks. Powering the device is a 5,000 mAh dual-cell battery complemented by a 45W dual-path fast-charging setup designed to optimize current distribution across both cells. Performance options include configurations offering up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB onboard storage running on One UI 9 based on Android 17.

Smart Software Integration and Global Launch

Alongside these larger foldables was Samsung’s introduction of the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip8—measuring just 6.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighing only 180 grams. It features a compact form factor with a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover display in addition to its main screen of six point nine inches. The phone is equipped with a primary camera of fifty megapixels and contains a battery capacity of four thousand three hundred mAh. All three models benefit from intelligent AI tools developed together with Google—such as Gemini Intelligence, Now Brief, and Now Nudge—which automate workflows in background processes and facilitate file summaries or app navigation enhancements.

Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold8 series are now live globally right after their Unpacked announcement event—with retail availability scheduled from August 7 2026. Starting prices are set at $1,899.99 for the standard Galaxy Z Fold8 model; prices for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip8 vary depending on regional markets due to hardware upgrades. This launch underscores Samsung’s strategy to promote foldable devices’ adoption among both high-end consumers and enterprise segments worldwide.
