EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Al Dahra Agriculture Trading and Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities have formalized a five-year wheat procurement plan valued at up to US$500 million. This agreement transitions Egypt’s 2023 financing setup into an active import arrangement. Under the deal, Al Dahra will supply imported wheat to GASC, financed via the Abu Dhabi Exports Office. The agreement also defines the procedures for purchases within that existing funding framework.

The contract was signed at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers headquarters in El Alamein on Aug. 26, 2026, with Egypt’s Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, who is also GASC’s chairman, present. Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, co-founder and managing director of Al Dahra, attended as well. The release did not specify the wheat quantities, shipment schedules, origins, or pricing details for purchases made under the agreement.
This financing arrangement originated in August 2023 when ADEX and Egyptian officials launched a revolving wheat import program. Initially set at US$100 million, the program allows for renewals each year over five years, with a maximum of US$500 million. Egypt’s ministries of international cooperation and finance joined GASC in establishing this framework. The 2026 supply deal now provides the operational structure for GASC’s wheat purchases from Al Dahra under that program.
2023 financing plan transitions into active management
ADEX, as the export-financing branch of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, offers funding tied to Emirati exports. In 2023, the office indicated that its Egypt facility would finance wheat and other vital commodities supplied through Al Dahra. The financing structure established a five-year cycle for these transactions with GASC. The current agreement sustains that framework while outlining the operational terms for Al Dahra’s imported wheat supplies.
Since 2007, Al Dahra has maintained operations in Egypt, including farming activities in Toshka and East Oweinat. In 2023, the company reported cultivating roughly 28,000 hectares within the country. Over the past three years, it supplied more than 180,000 tons of wheat to the Egyptian government. Recently, Al Dahra stated that its agricultural platform now serves more than 40 markets globally.
Al Dahra’s Egyptian activities date back to 2007
While the August 2026 agreement pertains to imported wheat, Al Dahra also produces agricultural commodities locally. In 2023, it identified itself as Egypt’s top private-sector wheat and corn producer, with approximately 85% of its Egyptian output sold domestically. The current arrangement focuses on imported wheat supplied to GASC via the ADEX program, not on a separate US$500 million financing deal. The five-year agreement enacts the financing framework announced three years prior, rather than establishing a new facility. The parties have not disclosed the total wheat volume covered, nor have they provided detailed shipment schedules, origin breakdowns, or pricing formulas. As of Aug. 27, 2026, the arrangement remains a five-year, up to US$500 million wheat supply program under the ADEX financing scheme.
