    Sheikh Mohamed and Bezos discuss future technology goals

    ABU DHABI, December 3, 2025: UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan today received Jeff Bezos, Founder and Executive Chairman of Amazon, at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi. The meeting underscored the UAE’s growing focus on innovation, technology, and artificial intelligence as drivers of national and global development. During the discussions, Sheikh Mohamed and Bezos exchanged views on expanding collaboration in areas related to advanced technology and sustainable innovation. Both sides emphasized the significance of harnessing artificial intelligence and digital transformation tools to enhance key sectors including education, healthcare, and the economy.

    The talks reflected the UAE’s commitment to integrating emerging technologies into its long-term strategy for improving quality of life and supporting global progress. President Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the UAE’s ambition to remain a global hub for innovation and investment, noting the nation’s focus on developing an ecosystem that fosters creativity, research, and digital entrepreneurship. He also highlighted the importance of international cooperation in developing future-oriented solutions that benefit humanity and contribute to sustainable growth.

    Bezos praised the UAE’s forward-thinking policies and its readiness to adopt and scale transformative technologies. He commended the country’s proactive stance on artificial intelligence, sustainability, and digital economy initiatives, noting that these efforts align closely with global trends shaping the future of commerce, education, and environmental stewardship. The meeting reflected a shared interest in advancing technological development while ensuring that innovation remains inclusive and socially responsible.

    Bezos commends UAE’s technology-driven growth vision

Accompanying Sheikh Mohamed were Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC); Khaldoun Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; and several senior UAE officials. Their presence underscored the strategic importance of the dialogue in shaping future partnerships with global technology leaders.

    WHO Calls for Expanded Ebola Response as Outbreak Spreads Across Multiple Regions in Congo

    The World Health Organization has urged a significant scaling-up of efforts to combat Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. According to Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, health teams have yet to trace all transmission pathways. As of Sept. 1, Congo reported 6,250 confirmed cases and 3,039 fatalities. The ongoing Bundibugyo outbreak now spans 60 health zones across six provinces. Congo’s Ebola response expands as Bundibugyo transmission remains active. This marks Congo’s most extensive and deadliest Ebola epidemic to date, ranking as the second-largest worldwide after the 2014-2016 West Africa outbreak. Ituri remains the epicenter, accounting for approximately 85% of cases and 88% of deaths. Tedros highlighted that many fatalities involve individuals not listed as known contacts, underscoring that health teams continue to miss some chains of transmission. Hindrances such as community deaths and unsafe burials are major challenges to containing the outbreak. Africa CDC reports that over 60% of fatalities in the past week occurred within communities. Delays in identifying infections and admitting patients to treatment centers have also been observed. Government data shows 1,439 recoveries and a case fatality rate of 48.6%, illustrating the severe impact of the Bundibugyo strain. Active Transmission Continues in Eastern Congo Transmission persists in 51 health zones despite recent indications of declining case numbers. Four zones have had no new cases for over 42
