Saturday, November 1, 2025: Emirates SkyCargo has added Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) to its freighter network, expanding its cargo operations across East and Southeast Asia. The new weekly freighter service connects Thailand’s capital directly with Dubai, offering exporters enhanced access to global markets through the airline’s cargo hub. The addition of Bangkok increases Emirates SkyCargo’s freighter network to 43 destinations worldwide, with 11 of those located in East and Southeast Asia. The move is part of the carrier’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its logistics presence in regions with growing manufacturing and export volumes. The airline said the new service provides regional customers with additional capacity and flexibility to transport goods worldwide via Dubai.
Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, said that East and Southeast Asia continue to represent some of the most dynamic markets for the airline’s cargo division. He added that the region’s manufacturing strength and expanding logistics capabilities are driving consistent demand for air freight. The Bangkok service is expected to support the movement of Thailand’s key exports, including electronics, automotive components, garments and agricultural products. The new route complements the carrier’s existing bellyhold and freighter operations across Asia. Emirates SkyCargo has also expanded its presence in Vietnam, increasing freighter services to and from Hanoi to four flights weekly.
Three of these flights connect directly to Dubai World Central (DWC), while a fourth links Dubai, Taipei and Hanoi, providing additional connections for Vietnamese exporters. In China, the airline has deployed a sixth weekly freighter to Guangzhou in response to sustained demand for air freight from mainland exporters. The cargo carried from this hub primarily consists of consumer technology products, electrical goods and e-commerce shipments. Emirates SkyCargo continues to operate flexible schedules across its Asian markets, frequently adjusting capacity to align with seasonal and peak-period demand. Emirates SkyCargo currently operates a dedicated freighter fleet that serves major trade routes across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and the Americas.
New Bangkok service strengthens Dubai trade connectivity
Over the past three decades, the airline has built an extensive network throughout East and Southeast Asia, covering 25 gateways with 45 freighter services, 13 charter operations and 315 passenger flights each week. The combined operations offer an estimated 21,000 tonnes of weekly cargo capacity from the region. Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi Airport serves as a key regional logistics hub, handling large volumes of air freight linked to the country’s diversified manufacturing base. The new Emirates SkyCargo connection strengthens the air transport corridor between Thailand and the UAE, a growing trade lane that facilitates exports ranging from industrial components to perishable goods.
New routes link Asia to Emirates’ global operations
The expansion of Emirates SkyCargo’s network follows the airline’s broader fleet and route development program, which includes upgrades to freighter aircraft and integration of digital cargo management systems. The carrier’s dedicated freighters, operating alongside the bellyhold capacity of Emirates’ widebody passenger fleet, are designed to provide consistent service reliability and transit efficiency for customers moving goods through Dubai. Emirates SkyCargo remains one of the largest international air cargo operators by capacity and network breadth. The Bangkok service further reinforces Dubai’s position as a major global cargo hub linking Asia to the rest of the world.
