Amazon Pharmacy offers Wegovy pill from $25 a month

MENA Newswire, SEATTLE: Amazon Pharmacy is now filling prescriptions in the United States for a newly approved pill version of Wegovy, the weight loss medicine made by Novo Nordisk. Amazon said eligible customers with commercial insurance can pay as little as $25 for a one month supply when manufacturer savings are applied, while a cash pay option for customers without insurance coverage starts at about $149 per month.

Amazon Pharmacy offers Wegovy pill from $25 a month
Amazon Pharmacy expands access to FDA approved Wegovy pill for eligible US patients nationwide.

Amazon Pharmacy said the Wegovy pill can be ordered through its online pharmacy platform in the same way as other prescription drugs it offers. Customers can have a prescriber send a prescription to Amazon Pharmacy or transfer an existing prescription, view available pricing options online, and receive home delivery. Amazon said eligible savings are applied automatically at checkout, and some areas have same day delivery.

Wegovy tablets contain semaglutide, a glucagon like peptide 1, or GLP 1, receptor agonist. Semaglutide is also the active ingredient in the injectable Wegovy product and in Ozempic, a diabetes medicine that is widely used in the United States. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Wegovy tablets in December 2025. The FDA label says Wegovy tablets are indicated, with a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity, to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events, including cardiovascular death, non fatal heart attack, or non fatal stroke, in adults with established cardiovascular disease and either obesity or overweight.

The label also says the tablets are indicated to reduce excess body weight and maintain weight reduction long term in adults with obesity, or adults who are overweight and have at least one weight related comorbid condition. The FDA label lists limitations of use that include a recommendation against using Wegovy tablets with other semaglutide containing products or with any other GLP 1 receptor agonist. The label also says it is not known whether Wegovy tablets are safe and effective for use in people under 18 years of age.

Amazon’s announcement adds another major channel for U.S. patients who have a prescription for the once daily tablet. Novo Nordisk has said the pill is intended for adults who meet the same medical criteria used for the injectable product in weight management, and that it is taken alongside diet and exercise. The company’s consumer information for the product also describes a stepped dosing approach that starts at a lower dose and increases over time.

How Wegovy pill prescriptions are filled online

Amazon said the lowest out of pocket price it displays for the Wegovy pill starts at roughly $149 per month for some self paying customers and doses, with final costs varying by dose and other factors. The company said customers can compare insurance pricing and cash pay pricing on its platform. Amazon did not disclose how many prescriptions it expects to fill or how many customers have requested the pill since it began accepting prescriptions.

Novo Nordisk did not provide distribution figures tied to Amazon Pharmacy. The company has said the Wegovy pill is available through the U.S. pharmacy system, and major U.S. drug retailers and other outlets have listed the product. CVS and Costco are among the major pharmacies offering the pill, and that telehealth services including Ro, LifeMD, WeightWatchers, and GoodRx also provide access through their platforms where permitted.

The launch comes as GLP 1 medicines have become a central part of obesity and metabolic disease treatment in the United States. Insurance coverage for obesity medicines varies widely, and patients without coverage often face high retail prices for branded products. Amazon’s pricing structure for Wegovy tablets, including the option to view cash pay pricing and apply savings where eligible, reflects those differing coverage conditions.

    Supply conditions for GLP-1 medicines

Shortages and supply constraints have also been a factor for GLP 1 medicines. The FDA has previously listed shortages for some semaglutide injection products during periods of heightened demand. Availability has changed over time as manufacturers adjusted production and distribution, and pharmacies have periodically reported uneven access depending on dose and region.

Amazon Pharmacy, a digital pharmacy service integrated into Amazon’s online ecosystem, delivers prescriptions across the United States. Amazon has said it operates in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. The company has expanded its prescription offerings since launching the service, competing with brick and mortar pharmacies and other online prescription providers on delivery, pricing tools, and customer experience.

Amazon said prescriptions for the Wegovy pill are now accepted nationwide, subject to state pharmacy regulations and prescriber authorization. The company did not provide separate pricing for every dose in its announcement, and it said costs may differ based on dosage, insurance plan terms, and eligibility for manufacturer programs.

Michigan’s Cyclosporiasis Outbreak Extends to Multiple States with Two Confirmed Deaths

    August 4, 2026

Michigan confirms two deaths as officials investigate a major cyclospora outbreak. Both cases occurred before the voluntary iceberg lettuce recall declared on July 17. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the Michigan deaths on August 3, describing them as cyclosporiasis-related fatalities involving individuals with pre-existing health issues. The state’s total includes all cases reported during the investigation and may be updated. Federal surveillance data typically includes lab-confirmed cases and can differ from the state figures that also count probable illnesses. Federal authorities are examining a nine-state Cyclospora outbreak associated with iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico. By July 24, nine states had reported 1,947 infected individuals, many of whom also reported exposure to Taco Bell. At least 98 of these patients required hospitalization. The illnesses began between June 22 and July 20. The CDC later acknowledged Michigan’s two deaths, which had not been reflected in the detailed federal totals from July 24. Recall involves iceberg lettuce from central Mexico Taylor Farms de Mexico withdrew all iceberg lettuce from central Mexico from the U.S. market. The recall covered various food-service products and Marketside iceberg salad and shredded lettuce available at select Walmart stores, with use-by dates from July 18 to August 3. Between June 29 and July 16, Taylor Fresh Foods distributed affected lettuce to 27 states, and Taco Bell ceased using lettuce from this supplier on July 17.
